Thanks to Anne M. & her husband, Tom, for coming in town to check us out.  We had a time hunting some fish, but finally found a few! We are looking forward to fishing in your neck of the woods soon!

Little Rock Things to Do!

by JB on Mar 28, 2009 at 6:10 PM Filed in Staying on the Right Path

If you are an outdoor enthusiast looking for things to do while visiting the Little Rock area, this is something you have GOT to do! JB took us on a fun-filled, relaxing trip around Lake Maumelle (about 30 minutes west of Little Rock.) We enjoyed every minute of it. JB has a unique brand of 'redneck' humor but at the same time, he's a true southern gentleman. He's kind of a cross between Larry the Cable Guy, Billy Bob Thornton, and Uncle Jed Clampett. We saw a variety of wildlife on our excursion and caught an awesome sunset. We highly recommend the trip! You will enjoy the ride. P.S. Don't worry if you forget your camera. JB has his own camera and takes lots of pictures of the trip. He will email them at no charge or for $10 he will make a great-looking slide show with music and everything.  I highly recommend this trip!!!  A+++++    Bob & Belinda Bellamy, Ft. Worth, TX

A great fishing trip with Little Rock fishing guide!

by JB on Mar 19, 2009 at 6:01 PM Filed in

What a great fishing experience! J.B. had everything ready when we hit the dock. Talkin' bout hospitality. Hot coffee, pigs in a blanket, honey buns and a big warm smile that says "we going to have a good day on the lake". We caught fish in four of the five holes he put us on. Fresh fish for dinner is hard to beat. Two father and son teams created a lasting fishing memory today.

"It's always fishing season!" says Little Rock Fishing Guide

by JB on Nov 18, 2008 at 4:35 PM Filed in Staying on the Right Path | Teach Your Children Well

The Good Book tells us that we are only here for a season. Every chance you get, enjoy the season. Hug your kids as much as possible. Tell them you love them more. Take a friend to lunch and then pick up the tab! Savor a sunset with your better half. Do a random act of kindness. Go fishing with JB. Send someone fishing with JB! They will thank you. Forget about the things you can't control and enjoy the rest of your season!

A nice testimonial...

by JB on Oct 28, 2008 at 7:03 PM Filed in

Wow!  What a deal!  You would not believe how easy JB made our trip.  From the second we walked up to the boat & he had hot coffee to cleaning every fish & bagging them!  It was a very unique experience that all really enjoyed.  I was surprised that my son told him he'd now re-discovered his love for fishing. I was really happy to hear that w/ all the fish-less trips I've drug him to.  At any rate -  thanks for letting us know about it & I'll definitely spread the word along w/ my friend who went who said he'll do the same.

Winter Fishing

by JB on Feb 14, 2008 at 6:53 PM Filed in Crappie 101

If you can’t stand the cold, stay off the lake! You know it’s cold when you have to keep thumping the eyes on your fishing rod. It’s hard to get the line through when the eyes freeze up.  A word to the wise: wear your Redhead Wool socks and your LightHouse for the Blind long johns. And bring some Hot Hands. Winter fishing in Arkansas is not for the faint of heart. That’s the bad news. The good news is -it is easier to catch a limit of crappie in the winter than it is during any other season. You just have to get down to their level – and I do.

JB's Guide Service is Open for Business

by JB on Jan 1, 2008 at 11:23 AM Filed in Cast Your Cares

Ask me what business I'm in and my reply will be, “my business is fishing and business is gooooood!”  The line might not be original, but I sure am. You can call me JB.  I retired after 20 years on the Little Rock Fire Department, now fishing is my full-time job.

I offer  fishing trips to anyone who wants to get away from the world for a while and "cast their cares" away.   I  provide clients with an opportunity to forget about work, or school, or sickness or any other problem and just enjoy themselves for a moment, because we’re only here for a moment. My business philosophy revolves around the golden rule.  Treat customers as you wish to be treated.  I will provide the kind of experience that I would expect to receive on a guided fishing trip—and I have very high expectations.

My office is located on a fishing barge at Lake Maumelle in Roland, Arkansas (just outside of Little Rock.)  My office hours are “from first light ‘til last bite!”  And I am open for "bid-ness."

JB’s Fishing Tips

With more than 40 years of experience in recreational sport fishing in "The Natural State," JB has developed systems, methodologies and philosophies for just about every fishing situation.

In his blog, JB shares what he has learned over the years. He talks about what works and what doesn’t. There’s a lot of gimmicks out there. Don’t be fooled by lofty advertising promises of how to catch more and bigger fish. Experience is the best teacher.
